“A person who is master of patience is master of many things.”

That’s the quote you see on that little piece of paper on the plate below…

I think the universe is screaming at me. Ludicrous, you think? Don’t jump to conclusions. Seriously. As I can, I’ve been making time to update the links in my old posts. I started at the beginning and am working my way backwards, up to now (because I just moved from Blogger to WordPress, for anyone just tuning in). I came to this post about patience.

Check out what I said at the end of that post:

Patience is a virtue (I believe) all successful writers possess. Dig deep and find patience. It’s in there!

Yes, I wrote those very words!

This is what happened when I got up from editing that post to find something quick to fix for lunch: I was digging in the cabinet and found a box of fortune cookies. I never really take those little fortunes to heart, but I love the taste of those cookies! I broke a cookie and started nibbling. I just laid that little ole piece of paper on the counter while I went searching for something to actually eat.

Imagine my surprise when I decided to pick that fortune up and read it! The quote at the top of this post jumped out at me. I just had to take a picture of those cookies on the plate with my fortune displayed. Coincidence?

I’ll admit, I’ve never been the most patient person. Some people think I’m very patient; others think I have zero patience. But it’s crazy to think the universe is screaming - ok, maybe not screaming - the topic of patience to me.

Weird.

What a strange day I’ve had, writing the cyber highway!

Oh, and in case you’re wondering, I did not eat all those cookies!

    Hi Michele,

Wow, weird coincidence, or maybe Fate, eh? Yes, patience is a virtue, and I wish I had some! Usually, I am lacking in that virtue. LOL. Right now, I’m impatiently waiting for Writer’s Weekly. When does that come out anyway? Hahaha.

Good post though. You look like the patient kind of person, to me. Oh, I probably would have eaten the whole box of fortune cookies!

Hope you’re writing up a storm. Got a new market to send you the next day or two.

Take care, keep writing the Cyber Highway, but stop and smell the roses sometimes, too.

    Always Fondly,

    Renie

  2. Michele T Says:

Hi, Renie! Yes, it’s a weird coincidence, or Fate… I may be a little patient, but not as much as I’d like. ;-)

Writers Weekly? I think it comes out again tomorrow. Hopefully it will!

I’m glad you liked my post. Well, I couldn’t eat the whole box–I’ve worked too hard to lose over 100 pounds. :-)

Oh, I’m writing up a storm–believe me! A new market? Yay!

Stopping to smell the roses? I literally did that yesterday. Picked a bouquet for myself. ;-)

    Take care!

  3. Grandy Says:

You’re not patient? Isn’t it funny what people perceive? I think patience is an arbitrary word.

I’m glad to hear you’re writing up a storm. You write beautifully. :)

  4. Michele T Says:

Hey there! Thanks for stopping by. ;-) Yeah, I tend to go bonkers waiting. *giggles*

Glad you think I write beautifully! I try. :-)

  5. Mary Says:

    Michele,

That is definitely eerie. LOL Patience is definitely a virtue that I don’t always seem to have.

Love your new home and what you’ve done with it.

Thanks so much for your prayers for my aunt. Your thoughtfulness, prayers and friendship are greatly appreciated.

    Blessings,
    Mary

  6. Michele T Says:

Hi, Mary! Yes, it’s eerie. I guess I know what I need to work on. ;-)

Thanks for the compliments! It’s still a WIP around here, but I’m trying to polish it all up. I’m mainly working on all those old posts right now, updating links and such. It takes a lot of time!

You’re most welcome for the prayers. My mom’s friend is still living cancer-free for almost 17 years now. It’s definitely possible for ‘Aunt May’ to have many years ahead!

Of all the professions and hobbies in the world, I think writing may be in the top ten that require a whole lot of patience! And energy. Writing is exhausting. But we do it because we love it ;)

  8. Michele T Says:

Hi, Melissa! Yes, writing is exhausting, but I’d wither away to ‘nothingness’ if I didn’t do it some form. ;-) I’m sure you would too.

    Thanks for stopping by!

  9. Katherine Says:

Lol - I think we all could exercise more patience from time to time in everything - not just writing. My husband and I had a day like that once. We kept seeing “Carmel” mentioned everywhere. In a book, the name of an Italian restaurant (this was a few years ago)… the conclusion was that we were going to live in that area again someday and… we’re moving in the summer!

  10. Michele T Says:

:-) Yes, I agree. Carmel? Wow. How exciting!

I love when things like that happen. I’ve had more days like this too. Like you said, everywhere you go a word is mentioned–and it most usually always means something. It’s so neat when we find out the ‘conclusion’ as you say.

Here’s to an easy move and lots of blessings in your new home!

I think we could all slow down a little, and practice our patience!

Thanks for keeping me connected to the blogging world!

  13. Tina Says:

    Hi Michele,

Isn’t it fun when this sort of coincidence happens?!

Most people seem to think I am very patient, but I don’t feel patient. LOL

Your new home is very nice!

    hugs,
    Tina

  14. Michele T Says:

    Hi, Tina!

    Yes, it’s fun–but weird! ;-)

I know what you mean! Folks always say I’m the most patient person they’ve ever known. I’m like: what is that about?! *giggles*

Who knows, maybe we have more patience than we give ourselves credit for. :-)

As always, thanks for stopping by–and for the kind compliment on my new home!

*laughs hysterically* You’re a hoot! Now you’re probably craving those cookies. ;-) And, I’m curious about your last post: Sniffles?

*off to read what Sniffles is about…*

  17. Erika Says:

Writing takes patience indeed…or rather, honing the craft of writing does. Great post, as always! And…wait for it…

…I’ve tagged you for a meme.

Erikas last blog post..This is why I love working from home…

  18. Michele T Says:

    Hi, Erika!

Yes, honing the craft of writing does take a lot of patience. When I look back over my writing, I realize I’ve come a long way–and that I have a long way to go. ;-) But I’m trying…

A meme? I’m on my way over to see what it’s all about.

Hi there, Bamboo Forest! Welcome to Writing the Cyber Highway! I’m so glad you stopped by and took the time to comment.

Yes, that is a beautiful quote (I’m glad you agree!); it really spoke to my heart the day I wrote this post. It was like everywhere I turned, the universe was speaking “patience” to me! How awesome is that?
