Freelance Writing: Squidoo, Hubs, and More…

Warning: This is pretty much an uninteresting post about where I’ve been and what I’ve been doing, so if this type of stuff bores you to tears, remember you’ve been warned… ;-)

Ah, at last I return. So, where have I been? Writing, of course! Where? I’ll share a few of the places with you.

  • Squidoo - I’ve wondered what all the rave is about with Squidoo Lenses. Now I know! I’m having a blast at Squidoo.com. So far, I’ve only created one lens: How to Make People Smile. It’s much like blogging, and it’s great fun–wonderful way to express your creativity!

I’ve shied away from sites like this for a long time, but I finally caved in and decided to just give them a try. I’m so glad I did!

I also wrote a piece for my local newspaper recently and finished a 1,500 word article that I’ll hopefully be able to let you know a link to soon.

So, lots of stuff going on... I’ve also been working on a fresh design and content for my freelance website. Heather, at Goofy Girl Designs, has been working hard on the design part and I’ve been working to write the content to really reflect the creative, inspiring person I am.

In other news… I’m getting a lot better about actually following up with my queries and submissions. I should have done this a long time ago. If you don’t follow up, it’s something you should really consider doing. Sometimes editors honestly are interested in what you submitted or queried about, or at least your writing style, but the e-mail gets lost or forgotten about. If you follow up, you’ll refresh their memory and possibly make that sale–or hopefully many sales!

Did you enjoy this post and my friendly, girl-next-door writing voice? Would you like to read more? Gobble up my feed – Entries RSS OR Comments RSS OR if you prefer updates to your inbox, Via E-mail - so you’ll always know when I have something to say! And get ready, this site will be podcasting soon. Imagine that – you’ll get to hear my southern accent. Ya’ll come back now, ya hear?!

Well, that’s pretty much what I’ve been doing–as far as writing is concerned anyway. What have you been up to? Do you write Squidoo Lenses? Are you a Hubber who loves writing HubPages? Do you write for your local newspaper? Have you thought of giving your freelance website a fresh design and content? Let us know what you’ve been doing lately!

I like Squidoo and HubPages too. I just looked at your Tea Tree oil article- very interesting! I had heard about using olive oil but not about the tea tree oil.

      Hi LS,

Welcome to Writing the Cyber Highway! I’m thrilled that you stopped by–and even jumped right in by starting the conversation! :-)

I’m loving Squidoo and HubPages a lot. I’m so glad I decided to go ahead and give them a try.

Thanks for looking at my Tea Tree oil article. It is interesting! I’ve seen it work, too. It’s amazing stuff! :-)

You see this is a writing-related blog, so my natural remedies passion doesn’t always fit well into this theme. I don’t want to start a complete new blog on the topic, so Squidoo and HubPages is a very nice way to “blog” about the different things I love!

Thanks again for stopping by. Hope you’ll visit again soon!

I’m a fellow writer. I might have to give hub pages a try. I hate to keep all my eggs in one basket. I think I need to be diversified. Thanks.

      Hi there, Kurt!

Welcome to Writing the Cyber Highway! I’m glad you decided to stop by and join in the conversation. Yeah, it’s not too good to “keep all your eggs in one basket.” I think you’ll like HubPages. I’m having a blast with them!

      And… you’re most welcome!

Thanks, Tina! Yes, I love keeping busy. :-) The pumpkin one is great! I responded to your comments over there. Do let me know how you like that “pumpkin pie.” hehehe

I loved the flowers in the wheelbarrow. It’s really pretty when they grown even more and spill over. I love rose moss…

    9. Opal @ Addicted to Writing Says:

It all sounds great, just a thought you could create a subdirectory on here that focuses on natural healing or you can purchase another domain name and host it under the same account. In doing so you can generate traffic to your website also monetize it through a variety of ways (adsense, affiliate marketing, ebooks, private sales, etc.) Those type of websites tend to do very well. ;-)

    10. Michele T Says:

Thanks for the advice, Opal! It’s definitely something that’s already on my mind. ;-) You’ll be seeing just that type of site in the near future! As you know, my mom has studied and used herbs and natural remedies for 20 years now and I’ve juice fasted extensively (52 days was the longest–without food, just raw juices, herbal teas, and water) and have improved my health tremendously with natural methods. I’m working with her to create a site focused on herbal healing, natural remedies, and alternative medicine, etc. We’ll probably both be writing there. I’ll let everyone know as soon as it’s live. :-)
