IMPORTANT UPDATE:
Because of everyone’s sincere compassion, giving hearts (and the respect everyone has for Naomi Dunford), the woman and her son who she asked us to help has received more than Naomi ever imagined possible when she wrote that first post.
Here’s a sneak peek of Naomi’s update:
We raised THOUSANDS of dollars for the woman leaving her lout of a husband. Like, a lot of thousands. There are two donations I want to mention in particular.
You can read Naomi’s entire update here.

This post relays an urgent message. Please read all the way through and go to Naomi’s blog to help save two lives…
I’ve mentioned before that I’m a survivor of domestic violence. I’ve written about it, blogged about it, and since I made it out, I always do what I can to make a difference. The majority of the time what I do to help is behind the scenes. I think giving and helping feels the best that way because it’s not done for show, but because we care. As a survivor of domestic violence, I know all too well what it’s like to feel like there’s no way out; like there’s no money to get out of town; like death at the hands of the abuser is the only option.
Naomi Dunford has asked us to help a woman and her son get out alive. This woman is being stalked and there’s no time to waste. Not only are those two lives worth our help, it’s Christmas and giving is what the holiday is all about. Instead of buying yourself that new CD or eating out today, why not make a difference in two lives? Give as much or as little as you can. Save two lives.
Help them now.

Michele, thanks for making us aware of this post. Violence is never acceptable and far too often people stand by and do nothing. This problem is growing in scope we have to do something.

Oh, dear. I will pray fervently for this mother and child. Will you post an update? (I’ll go check Naomi’s site; maybe there are details there.)
I hope you had a blessed Christmas, Michele. Hugs!

@Karen – You’re most welcome. Yes, the problem is getting worse and worse and we have to start coming together to help these women and children (and in some cases, even men!) before they become yet another statistic. I know what a difference a little help can make because I’m a survivor myself. It makes all the difference in the world.
@Janna – Thanks so much for stopping by! I’ve updated with a link to Naomi’s update. I’m just overjoyed with this outcome. I feel so good knowing this woman and her son now have a chance for a real future – a future with a home that’s filled with peace and love instead of violence…
I did have a blessed Christmas. I hope both of you did as well!
*smiles and hugs*
Michele
