"Adversity is the diamond dust Heaven polishes its jewels with." – Thomas Carlyle
This is one of my favorite quotes ever – and it rings so very true. It resonates so deeply with me. Don’t you just love it?!
Hi, y’all! How have you been? Are you still writing the cyber highway?
Did you think I fell off the face of the planet? Well, I didn’t!
I have been on sabbatical, I suppose. It was much-needed and I have enjoyed it so very much.
As most of you may know, I made a big move from my home state of Missouri to the big state of Texas. It was a big, scary decision and a ginormous move but I’m so happy I just went for it.
How I ended up in another dead-end relationship is beyond me, really. We live and learn, though, right?
Divorce number two. I choose that door, yes.
I am determined not to ever let that happen again. I have risen above many various forms of adversity throughout my life and this time is no different!
You will be seeing a lot more of me around here. I will be working to clean up the sidebars and update everything so I hope you are okay with giving me some time to dust all the cobwebs down.
I also updated my freelance writing website:
I am still polishing it to make it the best it can be as well.
My soul has felt quiet for a season (or two) but this girl is ready for some serious writing action!
One lesson I have learned over the years is that when I first started out, I was so determined to get published in different venues and make money writing that I failed to take time to enjoy life that was happening all around me.
And then I found myself wrapped up in all of life’s beauty (and sometimes chaos) and I drifted away from blogging here regularly.
But with time and age comes wisdom, huh?
Now I’m at the place of perfect balance. My Muse is on fire. My soul is overflowing with inspiration, hope, joy, love, and so much more.
I have finally found that balance of life and writing that I always wanted to achieve but couldn’t quite seem to grasp. Yes, I have found it. And it is a most beautiful experience.
Some of my writing goals at this point are:
- Stop talking about writing a book – and just DO it already.
- Take on clients to bring in income. (check)
- Query magazines and submit essays and/or articles. (check)
- Blog here and at www.healingwithjuices.com at least twice a week.
I realized recently that my work was first published almost eight years ago. Wow. Where in the world has the time gone, folks?
Eight years… Really?
When I was a kid, I would make to-do lists for my chores and put them on the fridge. My dad told me one day: “Why don’t you stop writing about it and just start doing it.”
Isn’t that so true?
I have made lists of goals for years. And while I have accomplished a lot of what I wrote down, I didn’t always push myself to stop dreaming and get up and just DO.
What about you? Do you make lists of goals that have gathered dust for years? Let’s change that this very moment. What do you say? Are you with me?
Like Emeril says: “Time to kick it up a notch. BAM!”
And what have you been up to? Are you still writing? Did you take an outside-the-home job to pay the bills while writing on the side? That’s what I decided to do. I am now the Office Manager for an awesome company by day, four days a week. Early mornings, evenings, Fridays, and the weekend are designated for writing and taking care of my freelance business.
I love my manager job and my bosses are amazing. They support my writing endeavors! What a blessed gal I am…
Get comfy and let’s catch up. Oh, how I have missed y’all!!!!
